Looking for a wild, fun family day out? Look no further! Knowsley’s impressive 5-mile wild animal safari drive is the longest in the UK, and is currently home to over 750 fascinating animals – everything from the cheeky baboons to the magnificent lion pride - you won’t find a more thrilling day out in the North West! The current opening hours are 9:30 – 5.30 pm, with the last safari drive entry at 4.00 pm, so it’s a great place to spend a full day exploring our wonderful wildlife.

The drive takes about an hour to complete and the best bit is …. you can go around as many times as you want! For those of you who aren’t quite brave enough to venture into the baboon enclosure, you can take the car friendly route, which still gives you fantastic views of the cheeky residents or why not take the Baboon bus which lets you get the thrill and fun of entering the enclosure without any risk to your own vehicle!

If you’d prefer not to be in a vehicle, The walk around area offers everything from sea lion displays and play areas, to elephants and giraffes. The Wild Trail should not be missed with the European Moose, Bruce & Froja, just waiting to say hello. And if you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the amusement rides, why not take the family out on a rowing boat on Mizzy Lake? There’s so much to do you’ll struggle to fit it all in!

Knowsley Safari is passionate about animals and want their guests to be too – their aim is to inspire you to find out more about the world we live in and the role the amazing animals have to play in it!

Across the globe there are animals of every shape, size and colour, and every one of them has a role to play that is connected to you. Some of the species are very well known, iconic and charismatic. Others you may never have heard of! All of them have amazing abilities, unique super powers that rival any comic book hero. So view the galleries, watch the videos, read surprising facts and have fun discovering them all!
